Volunteer Categories & Requirements

Long-Term or Regular Service Category

Provides specific voluntary service on an ongoing basis.

• Works less than 120 hours per month
• Cannot total more than 1,440 volunteer hours per year
• Attends an orientation, including Risk Management guidelines
• Submits to a background check and electronic fingerprinting
• Receives a county photo ID
• May be licensed to operate county vehicles and/or equipment
• Keeps a daily volunteer time log
• Receives the following benefits:
  • Covered by workers’ compensation

  • May receive mileage reimbursement for necessary and approved travel while on duty

  • May join Pinellas Federal Credit Union

  • May use county fitness center

  • Is eligible for training opportunities through Pinellas County Human Resources Department

• Requires the VIP Opportunity Form
• Requires the Volunteer Application Form
• Requires the Volunteer Placement Status Form , prepared by department representative
