Volunteer Categories & Requirements

Candidate or Provisional Service Category

A volunteer who has applied to be a long-term volunteer.

• Provides limited or occasional service (e.g., special events, seasonal work, etc.)
• Cannot work more than four months continuously
• Cannot total more than 320 volunteer hours per year
• Has provisional status and has applied to be a long-term volunteer
• Keeps a volunteer daily log, provided daily by respective department
• Covered by workers’ compensation benefit
• Is supervised/instructed by county staff or long-term volunteer
• Requires the Volunteer Opportunity Form
• Requires the Volunteer Short-Term Placement Form
