school recycling

Pinellas County Utilities staff are eager to assist with school recycling in order to educate children about recycling and reduce the waste stream.

PAPER RECYCLING:
Pinellas County Utilities has made paper recycling bins available to Pinellas County public and private schools.

recycle binIn the first year of the program (2004-2005), Pinellas County public schools recycled over 3.3 million pounds (1,661 tons). Last year, the public schools recycled over 3.6 million pounds (1,815 tons). These efforts represent significant pollution prevention and savings of trees, water, energy, and disposal capacity—plus avoided costs for the school district!

Click here for more information on the school paper recycling program including an activity sheet for elementary students. To request recycling assistance, email recycle@pinellascounty.org or call (727) 464-7500.
