SPECIFIC GRANTS:
Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD)
Grants of up to $5,000 are offered for the Splash! Mini-Grant Program. Funding is available to public, private, or homeschool teachers for classroom projects on water-related topics such as conservation. There were 21 projects funded in Pinellas County in 2007 (click here to view). DEADLINE: September 12, 2008
Tampa Bay Estuary Program
Grants of up to $7,500 are offered to teachers (or community groups) for programs related to watershed conservation. For questions, contact Grants Coordinator, Misty Cladas (893-2765). DEADLINE: October 1, 2008
Pinellas Education Foundation
Grants of up to $3,000 are offered for programs such as the Teach for Excellence Classroom Grants to encourage innovative classroom projects. DEADLINE: August 15, 2008
Captain Planet Foundation
Grants of up to $2,500 are offered to teachers for hands-on environmental projects. Grant proposals are reviewed four times a year, as shown below. DEADLINE: March 31, June 30, September 30, December 31
Toshiba America Foundation
Grants of $5,000 or more are offered to teachers of grades 7-12 for inquiry-based science projects designed by individual teachers or small teams of teachers. Grants of up to $1,000 are offered for teachers of K-6. DEADLINE: August 1, 2008 (grades 7-12), October 1, 2008 (K-6)
