Pinellas County residents are invited to bring their unwanted electronics and chemicals to the center (at no charge).

Swap Shop

The Swap Shop, located at HEC3, offers used household products such as paint, cleaners, and automotive fluids FREE of charge to the public for reuse. One resident painted her entire house with paint she found at the Swap Shop!

How to Package & Transport Chemicals

  1. Do NOT mix chemicals together.
  2. Keep products in original labeled containers if possible.
  3. Place containers in cardboard boxes; use crumpled newspaper in the boxes to prevent breakage.
  4. Place leaky containers in clear plastic bags and transport in boxes with newspaper.
  5. Put boxes in the trunk or in the back of vehicle away from passenger.

  • Automotive/marine batteries
  • Biological/infectious waste
  • Empty paint cans
  • Explosives
  • Fire extinguishers
  • Motor oil
  • Propane tanks
  • Radioactive waste
  • Smoke detectors
