Capri Isle Water Main Replacement Project

PROGRAM BACKGROUND

Q: What is the Gulf Boulevard Project?
A: A cooperative effort between Pinellas County Utilities (PCU), the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), and the City of Indian Rocks Beach for roadway and infrastructure improvements.

Q: Why is this project necessary?
A: To install a 16-inch reclaimed water transmission main that will improve reclaimed water pressure in the north beach communities, and to provide a safe roadway for pedestrians and motorists.

Q: In what area(s) of the County will the construction take place?
A: A three-mile section of SR 699(Gulf Boulevard) between Park Boulevard and Walsingham Road within the Town of Indian Shores and Indian Rocks Beach.

Q: How will I know when the construction is planned in my area?
A: Pinellas County will notify affected communities by direct mail, website postings, and public meetings. Residents can call the Reclaimed Water Hotline at 464-4273 for updates. 

Q: When will this construction start and how long will it take to complete?
A: Construction is anticipated to begin November 2007 and be completed August 2009.

Q: How will it affect the residents in the areas?
A. Detours will be implemented throughout construction.

Q: Will streets be closed for any period of time?
A: Yes, there will be temporary road closures.


IMPACTS TO WATER SERVICE

Q: Will my service be interrupted?
A: Yes, minor service interruptions can be expected. However, affected residents will be notified prior to scheduled service interruption.
