Gulf Boulevard Construction Project Begins Thursday
Twenty-two Month Project Includes Numerous Upgrades

November 14, 2007

A three mile construction project on SR 699 (Gulf Boulevard) between Park Boulevard and Walsingham Road will begin on Thursday, November 15, 2007. The project, within the Town of Indian Shores and the City of Indian Rocks Beach, will include installation of a 16-inch reclaimed water transmission main, reclaimed water distribution lines, potable water and sanitary sewer upgrades, and other enhancements. The end result will be a modern two lane roadway with bike and walking paths on both sides of the roadway.

The project is designed to improve reclaimed water pressure in the north beach communities and to provide a safe roadway for pedestrians and motorists. Residents and businesses will be notified by direct mail, Web postings and public meetings with construction updates as the project progresses. Green Vest employees will be on-site during construction to answer questions and a Project Hotline for residents at (727) 464-4273 will be monitored throughout the project. In addition, there will be an informational open house on November 29 at the Indian Shores Town Hall Auditorium from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The Auditorium is located at 19305 Gulf Blvd. in Indian Shores.

The Gulf Boulevard Project is a cooperative effort between Pinellas County Utilities, the Florida Department of Transportation, and the City of Indian Rocks Beach for roadway and infrastructure improvements. The project is expected to take 22 months with a completion date of August 12, 2009. A special Web address has been established for information and updates: www.pinellascounty.org/gulfblvd.
