Pinellas County, Fla – The South County reclaimed water system continues to operate on a restricted basis to allow extended periods of recovery time to meet increased demand. The system is operating normally prior to 10 a.m. and after 4 p.m. The restrictions will last until the system stabilizes.

After attempting voluntary reductions during daytime hours, outflows continue to equal or exceed reclaimed water production. In accordance with Southwest Florida Water Management District guidelines, watering is currently discouraged during the hours of
10 a.m. and 4 p.m. to minimize evaporation. However, the reclaimed water system continued to experience heavy demand during this timeframe. Utilities officials urge customers to conserve our valuable reclaimed water resource by irrigating wisely and efficiently when it is available.

The affected areas include all the Gulf Beaches from Tierra Verde to Sand Key; 78th Avenue North to 66th Avenue North between 113th Street North and Boca Ciega Bay; Park Boulevard to 54th Avenue North between Cross Bayou and 66th Street North; Tamarac By The Gulf and Seminole Lakes Golf and Country Club Estates. The communities of Pinellas Park, St. Pete Beach and South Pasadena will also be affected.

Conservation Tips:
• Over watering can actually damage a Florida lawn and prevent a deep, drought-tolerant root system from being established.
• Over watering promotes dollarweed, chinch bug damage and excessive thatch.
