HEC3 Now Open EVERY Saturday

Expanded Saturday Hours for the
Household Electronics & Chemical Collection Center (HEC3)

May 2, 2007

As of May 5th, the Household Electronics & Chemical Collection Center (HEC3) is open every Saturday for Pinellas County residents to drop off hazardous waste. Monday – Friday hours of operation remain the same. To make hazardous waste drop off more convenient for residents who work during the week, Pinellas County Utilities expanded its “open Saturday” hours from one Saturday a month to all Saturdays.

Hours of Operation for the HEC3 (effective 5/5/07)
Monday, Tuesday, Friday 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Saturday 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The HEC3 is closed on Wednesday, Sunday, and all county observed holidays.

There is no cost for residents to drop off household hazardous waste items at the HEC3. Another benefit for residents visiting the HEC3 is the Swap Shop, offering free items such as paint, cleaners, and gardening products for reuse.

People moving in or out of their current residences find the hazardous waste drop-off program extremely helpful. Also, springtime is “paint it, clean it, fix it” time for homes, garages, and yards, which often includes the need to dispose of hazardous waste items.

The HEC3 is located at 2990 110th Avenue North, St. Petersburg (off 28th Street). For more information including what items to bring and what not to bring, call (727) 464-7500.

For businesses, Utilities hosts quarterly EnviroBusiness Hazardous Waste Collection Days, where businesses can take advantage of the county’s reduced contracted prices for business hazardous waste disposal. For more business hazardous waste information, visit www.pinellascounty.org/bizwaste.
