Follow-up water sample results from Monday evening’s sewer force main overflow indicate it is safe to return to recreational use in the affected areas. The spill occurred on the west end of the Belleair Causeway to Harbor Drive in Indian Rocks Beach as the result of an air release valve malfunction.

All bacteria levels have returned to normal for this water body therefore no further sampling will be necessary. Caution signs posted around the affected areas are being removed. Residents may resume normal recreational water activities such as boating, fishing and swimming.
