Clearwater, Fla.— Approximately 500 homes in the Belle Vista subdivision in St. Pete Beach have experienced a loss of potable water service due to an 8-inch water main break earlier today. The water main break was located at 44th Avenue, just off Gulf Blvd.  Utilities crews have repaired the leak and are preparing to restore water service to the area.  

Prior to the water being restored, Pinellas County Utilities will issue a boil water advisory for those residents whose water service has been interrupted. Door-to-door notifications will be delivered to all affected residents in the Belle Vista subdivision. The boil water requirement will begin when water service returns at approximately 5:00 p.m. today, and will be in place until further notice. The water will be tested to obtain clearance from any potential contamination. Results from water quality testing are expected within 48 hours.
