On April 17, 2006, we initiated a shut down of the reclaimed water system on two consecutive days of each week, Monday and Tuesday. This was done in an effort to return the reclaimed water storage pond at the W. E. Dunn Water Reclamation Facility to a normal operating level.

Due to the lack of seasonal rain fall and exceedingly high demands, the reclaimed water storage pond at the W. E. Dunn Water Reclamation Facility remains at a critically low level. Consequently, it is necessary to shut down the reclaimed water system one additional day per week.

Beginning Friday, May 19, 2006, the Pinellas County North County reclaimed water system will be shut down on the following days and times until seasonal rains resume and pond levels recover:

Reclaimed water will not be available for irrigation purposes on Monday, Tuesday and Friday until further notice.

The shutdown will enable customers to derive the maximum irrigation benefit from reclaimed water during the remaining four days of the week when the reclaimed water system is active. On the days when the reclaimed water system is active, customers are urged to refrain from irrigating between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. This is the hottest part of the day when evaporation rates are highest.
