Pinellas County Utilities Belleair Pipeline Project

Belleair Pipeline Project Update - Construction Wraps Up

Initial construction of the Pinellas County Utilities Belleair Pipeline Project began in November 2006. The project started at the south end in Seminole (south of Park Blvd.) and moved northward in small increments up to the new pump station in the Town of Belleair. Two horizontal directional drilling (HDD) machines were used to minimize disruption to the Pinellas Trail and roadways.

The completed north-south force main and the new Belleair pump station were placed into operation on December 10, 2007. An east-west branch force main from the pump station on Indian Rocks Road at McKay Creek was completed and placed into service in mid-April 2008.

For the benefit of trail users, new water fountains were installed along the section of the Pinellas Trail that was affected by the project. The water fountains will be ready for use by the end of July 2008.
