Caution urged for free water testing offers Pinellas County Utilities urges customers to be cautious of individuals and businesses claiming they can improve the quality and safety of your water through the purchase of a water treatment system. Applications must be received by September 20 The Pinellas County Utilities rebate program for alternate sources of irrigation is drawing to a close. Under the 12-year-old program, rebates were available for up to 50 percent of the installation cost (up to $300) for a shallow well, deep well, or surface water withdrawal system (such as a lake, pond, or canal) for irrigation. Water System Maintenance
The method of water treatment utilized by Pinellas County Utilities and its wholesale customers will be temporarily modified from August 23 through October 8, 2010, resulting in a switch from chloramine to chlorine disinfection. Belcher Road 48-inch Water Main Replacement
Pinellas County Utilities has initiated a three-mile construction project on Belcher Road to replace a defective 48-inch water main. The project will be conducted in phases between East Bay Drive and Bryan Dairy Road. For more information, visit: www.pinellascounty.org/belcher
Changes in Pinellas County Watering Restrictions
The Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD) voted to allow the one-day-per-week restrictions to expire. As of July 1, irrigation with non-potable water (well, lake, and pond sources) will be permitted two days per week, but watering with potable water will continue to be limited to one day per week.
