On March 1, 2016, the Board of County Commissioners convened for a Work Session at Weedon Island Preserve in St. Petersburg to review their Strategic Plan. They also celebrated the one year anniversary of the Plan’s adoption.
The Plan sets direction for the County through five strategic goals that align with our Values and help us to fulfill our Vision: To Be the Standard for Public Service in America. The building blocks of the Plan are our Doing Things – tasks carried out by our departments to serve the Public and our customers.
At the meeting, the Board expressed confidence in the great Doing Things planned for the coming year and beyond, while reflecting on the many Things Done since the Plan’s creation.
The Board reviewed the results of the 2016 Citizen Values Survey, which shows a great improvement in our efforts to meet Citizens’ expectations. Citizens also expressed their highest level of trust and confidence in County government since the annual survey began in 2013. Citizens’ trust and confidence in us is 20 percent above the national average.
Additionally, Commissioners discussed ways to continue the success of the Penny for Pinellas, a one-percent sales tax dedicated to capital improvement projects, as it approaches its fourth decade.
We welcome you to review the links on this page, which provide a snapshot of the topics discussed and see for yourself why the present is bright and the future is even brighter for Pinellas County!
