Special Magistrate Administrative Division
Pursuant to Florida Statute Section 162.02, Pinellas County has adopted an alternate code enforcement system which gives Special Magistrates, as designated by the Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners, the authority to hold hearings and assess fines against violators of the respective Pinellas County Ordinances. Special Magistrates conduct hearings regarding testimony and evidence on said code violations, and render orders of enforcement in accordance with Pinellas County Ordinance No. 07-05, adopted January 9, 2007.
A Special Magistrate has jurisdiction over alleged violations of the provisions of the Pinellas County Code and Pinellas County Land Development Code.
The Building Department follows the Florida Building Code. The Public Works department follows the ordinances as designed by the State of Florida and FEMA.
Hearings are held the 2nd Monday of every month at 9:00 a.m. in the Pinellas County Board Assembly Room, 315 Court Street, 5th Floor, Clearwater, FL 33756. Dates, times, and location of hearings is subject to change. Hearings are open to the public.
