No Such Place as AwayUtilities/Solid Waste – Ever wonder what happens to your garbage when you throw it away? This presentation covers Pinellas County’s integrated solid waste management system; including waste-to-energy, sanitary landfills, recycling programs, and the household electronics and chemical collection center (HEC3). Audiences are encouraged to take responsibility by reducing, reusing, and recycling their wastes and “closing the loop” by shopping for items made with post-consumer recycled content. Proper Disposal of Medicines - Utilities/Solid Waste Operations – Learn the proper way to dispose of old, leftover and unused medicines to protect the environment.  This presentation will explain how disposed medicines affect the water and waste disposal systems.  Length of presentation: 5 to 30 minutes.  Recommended audience:  Adults

Reclaimed Water - Utilities/Reclaimed Water - What do the terms “reclaimed water” and “effluent” really mean? Hear how the future of Pinellas County's water supply rests with reclaimed water and how neighborhoods remain green with this new resource. Learn about the process of treating wastewater and what you can do to help. Recommended audience: Middle School – Adults

Toxic Air Pollutants - Environmental Management/Air Quality – Hear what rules and regulations are currently in effect regarding the emissions of toxic air pollutants into the atmosphere, data trends, etc. Recommended audience: Adults

What’s All This About Water?Utilities/Water – Invite a water quality expert to your next meeting to acquaint you with an overview of the basics concerning our regional drinking water supply: where it comes from, water treatment and analysis, discussion about water quality, and how we maintain & protect this valuable resource. You will also learn about successful water conservation techniques as well as programs administered by Pinellas County Utilities that make this one of the lowest per capita water usage communities in the nation. Recommended audience: This presentation is available in adult and kid-friendly versions.
