Garbage Collection in Lealman
Contact / Fees / Billing:
Fees:
The current fee for residential garbage collection and disposal within the Lealman District is $168.00 per residential unit per year. All property owners pay this fee based on the number of residential units on the property, not the value or size of the property. This rate was determined through a competitive bid process and amounts to $14.00 for each month of service.
Billing:
The fee appears on your property’s tax bill each year as a non-ad valorem assessment. You will not receive a bill from County Sanitation. Like property taxes, collection of the assessment is in arrears. This means that the annual cost of garbage service for a calendar year appears on the tax bill that comes out in November of that year. Although the assessment appears on your tax bill, it is a fee for service, NOT A TAX. Collecting the service fee on the tax bill keeps administrative costs low, allowing us to keep the cost of service low. However, just like taxes, there are discounts of up to 4% available for early payment.
Full Cost Accounting:
Florida Statute 403.7049 requires that the full cost for solid waste management services be disclosed to residents within the Lealman service area. Each year this disclosure is provided to each assessed property in the district by mail. They can also be found by clicking on the following links.
