Lealman Solid Waste Collection and Disposal District
Lealman Garbage Collection:
Pinellas County does not collect residential garbage, except in the east Lealman area.
Lealman Garbage Collection Information:
- Residential solid waste is collected twice weekly between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Contact County Sanitation Inc. at
(727) 522-5794 to determine your collection days. - Garbage must be placed in covered containers or closed bags not exceeding forty-five (45) gallons or fifty (50) pounds each. Residents must provide their own curbside containers.
- Yard waste, such as grass clippings, leaves, or shrubbery cuttings, set out with garbage will be collected as long as it is containerized or bagged. Branches may be set out in loose piles but must not exceed four (4) feet in length and four (4) inches in diameter.
- Containers and bags should be placed at the curbside no more than 12 hours prior to a collection day and containers must be removed from the curb by 11:59 p.m. of the day on which collection is provided.
- Bulky waste, such as furniture, white good appliances (except household electronics such as TVs and microwaves) and some home construction debris, are collected along with garbage on the second pickup day of the week. Bulky waste must be less than 2 cubic yards per residential unit once per week.
- Service is not provided on the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, or Christmas Day. Normal service will resume on the next scheduled collection day.
- Persons living in residential units where they are physically limited in taking their trash to the curb may apply for free Back Door Service.

Q: What company collects my garbage?
A: A local sanitation company called County Recycling, Inc. provides collection service. Their telephone number is (727) 522-5794.
Q: Who is covered?
A: All single family residences, duplexes, triplexes, and quadplexes for which a certificate of occupancy has been issued. Click on the map to see if your residence is within the district.
Q: Who is not covered?
A: Commercial properties, industrial complexes, and other non-residential properties are not part of the district and will not receive services or be assessed. Multi-family residences that have more than four dwelling units also are not included in the MSBU. Some commercial mobile home parks may qualify for and receive an exemption from the MSBU. They may still maintain service at those specific properties if the mobile home parks are serviced using commercial containers.
Q: Do you take recycling?
A: At this time the service does not include curbside recycling. Interested residents can drop off recycling at any county site or can contact a garbage collection company, or hauler, to subscribe separately to curbside recycling.
Q: What won’t be picked up?
A: Just as in other cities, there are items that won’t be accepted for curbside collection. These items that do not fit the definitions of garbage, trash, or bulky waste are not included in the costs for trash collection. You will have to pay for their disposal. Those items include:
- Extraordinary Waste such as abandoned automobiles, boats, individual tree branches or stumps greater than four (4) feet in length and greater than 4 inches in diameter, and C&D Debris in excess of two (2) cubic yards.
- Hazardous Electronic and Chemical Waste such as TVs, computers, cell phones, power supplies, laptops, fluorescent bulbs and tubes, rechargeable batteries, paints, cleaning supplies, fertilizers, pesticides and other toxic chemicals. If used in household they may be disposed of for free at Pinellas County’s Household Electronics and Chemical Collection Center (HEC₃).
- Biological Waste such as dead animals or human medical waste
- Explosives such as guns or ammunition
