Take a two-hour hike with the experts through Weedon Island Preserve’s coastal mangrove and upland ecosystems. Learn about the coastal environment and the Preserve’s early residents. Please reserve your space by 2 p.m. on Friday. Free. To register, call (727) 453-6500.

Details:
Brooker Creek Preserve, 3940 Keystone Road, Tarpon Springs
Take a walk through time on a guided hike along the Brooker Creek Preserve Education Trail. Join in this walk, see how the land has changed over time and discuss the ecological footprints left by those changes. All ages welcome, but children younger than 6 may find the hike challenging. Free. Pre-registration is required by noon on Friday by calling (727) 453-6800.

Market in the Park
Location: 12520 Ulmerton Road, Largo
Details:
Market in the Park is home to 30-plus booths selling unique items, not always found in chain stores. Farm-fresh produce, natural products and gardening items are the mainstay of the market. The list of products includes everything natural from stuffed breads, herbs and hot sauces to honey, coffee and nuts. Handmade soaps, soft cotton products and bird feeders may be sold.

New this year, horticultural-friendly craft products are for sale. Entertainment and educational booths add a distinctly different touch, and food is sold for vendors and visitors. Dogs, on leashes, are welcome to wander with their families.

Free admission, on-site restrooms and plenty of room to roam make this market convenient and accessible. The market is held in the Pinellas County Extension parking lot at 12520 Ulmerton Road in Largo. It is located off 125th Street between Walsingham and Ulmerton roads, next to Heritage Village.

With food prices rising, growing vegetables in the garden may help take some of the bite out of those costs. Attend a free Vegetable Gardening Workshop and be prepared for the winter/spring growing season in Pinellas County with Pam Brown from Pinellas County Extension. Learn how to choose a good location for the garden or containers, prepare the soil, design the garden and plant and care for the crop. This event is free, open to the public and best for adults. Fee per class, including materials, is $35 for Pinellas County Historical Society members and $40 for non-members.
