Project Overview

Pinellas County Public Works is replacing the bridge (No. 154351) over Stephanie's Channel along Oakwood Drive in Largo. The proposed project is to replace the existing bridge which provides the only access to the homes along the intracoastal waterway on Buttonwood Lane, part of the Harbor Bluffs neighborhood.

 

Prior to repairs performed in 2001, the bridge was considered structurally deficient and functionally obsolete. Repairs restored the required capacity; however, these repairs are nearing their service life and, at this time, replacement of the structure is the most cost effective option. The proposed structure will be constructed in phases as to maintain one lane of traffic open at all times. The structure will be built of concrete elements and provide a 75-year service life.

 

Project Schedule

• Design Start: January 2014
• Design End: May 2019
• Construction Start: December 2019
• Construction End: February 2021

 

This project is funded through the county's Capital Improvement Program.
