John Chesnut Sr. Park Boardwalk Replacement
Project ID# 000039A
John Chesnut Sr. Park, 2200 East Lake S, Palm Harbor, FL 34685
This project includes the replacement and rehabilitation of the boardwalks throughout John Chesnut Sr. Park. The new boardwalk will consist of composite decking and handrails to extend the life expectancy of the boardwalks. A new rail design is being used to improve the stability and look of the railing along the boardwalks. The railing will be 42 inches high with black vinyl-coated welded wire mesh within a wood frame. Work also includes rehabilitation of the existing observation tower. Work is underway with sections of boardwalk already completed.
During construction there will be minimal disturbance to the natural environment in order to ensure the safety and enjoyment of the park guests, with many opportunities to sit in benches along the Lake Tarpon shore to enjoy the scenery.
- Construction Start: April 2018
- Construction End: September 2019
This project is funded through the Local Infrastructure Sales Tax (Penny for Pinellas): Culture and Recreation, Countywide Parks Projects program allocation.
