Hercules Avenue Sidewalk Improvements
Project ID# 002686A
Hercules Avenue, from Sherwood Street to Sunset Point Road, Clearwater
Pinellas County Public Works, through the County’s Capital Improvement Program, is making sidewalk improvements along Hercules Avenue, from Sherwood Street to Sunset Point Road, in Clearwater.
To enhance pedestrian safety along the roadway, broken sidewalk will be replaced, and existing sidewalk will be upgraded to be ADA-compliant. Modifications will be made where sidewalk intersects existing driveways, and curb ramps will be improved.
The project will further improve pedestrian accessibility by providing new sidewalk on both sides of the road to fill in the gaps within the project limits. Where new sidewalk is constructed, an unpaved six-foot shoulder will be constructed and drainage improvements will be made. Stand alone or separated pedestrian structures will be constructed at the Alligator Creek crossings. The project will also provide better transit accommodations at the PSTA bus stops.
Additionally, an improved pedestrian crossing with pedestrian signals and special emphasis crosswalk markings will be accommodated at the signalized intersection at Calumet Street.
