Fort De Soto Bay Pier Replacement
Project ID# 000929A
Project Location
Fort De Soto Park, St Petersburg
Project Overview
Pinellas County Public Works, through the County's Capital Improvement Program, is preparing plans for the replacement of the Fort De Soto Bay Pier and Dock. The pier was originally built in 1960 and reconstructed in 1984. As a result of excessive deterioration, the current structure has served its useful life and requires replacement.
The structure serves as a docking point for multiple agencies and users, including the Egmont Ferry, Tampa Bay Marine Pilots, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and Florida Department of Environmental Protection. It is expected that the new pier/dock will resemble the existing structure, utilize materials with a greater ability to withstand the aggressive environment, incorporate the needs for all dock users, and meet the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
