Project Overview
Pinellas County Public Works is conducting planned upgrades to the CSXT railroad crossing on 54th Avenue N., between 49th Street N. and 34th Street N, in the Lealman area of Unincorporated Pinellas County.
The upgrade is part of the county's maintenance and railway improvement and replacement program. It includes replacement of damaged rail components with a pre-fabricated, tieless tub-style concrete crossing, as well as reconstruction of the roadway to improve safety. The project will also improve curb ramps to make them ADA compliant as well as replacement of stormwater structures to ensure adequate drainage of water.
Work will begin on June 26 but will not result in road closures at first. On July 10 and 11, all four lanes will be closed, and traffic will be detoured as shown in the map below. After that, the two center lanes will be reopened while drainage and curb work are completed.
