Design Division is responsible for the design and coordination of engineering elements of Capital Improvement Projects, including roadways, sidewalks, drainage, structures, water, sewer, pump stations and reclaimed water projects.

This responsibility involves engineering analysis, computations, designs, hydraulic and hydrologic modeling, technical specifications development, and construction consultation.  

It also involves the oversight of professional engineering consultants to assure that designs satisfy all state guidelines, county ordinances, and engineering standards.  The design of structures includes various infrastructure components, such as bridges, large culverts, mast arms, overhead signs, walls, and other structures.  

Designs performed by this division require permit coordination with numerous agencies, including the Southwest Water Management District (SWFWMD), the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP), the Army Corps of Engineers (ACOE), the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), CSX Railroad, and others.  Utility relocations for external projects (i.e., FDOT, Cities, etc), are also accomplished in this division.  

When necessary, Haz-Mat related issues are also addressed in accordance with state guidelines.  This division relies on computer support for engineering modeling analysis to accomplish design related tasks.
