Important Update
On December 12, 2006 the Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners adopted Ordinance No. 06-89 establishing the Alderman Residential Rural Community Overlay within the Pinellas County Comprehensive Plan. This ordinance also established three Comprehensive Plan policies that support retention of the community's rural character and large-lot land use designation, which restricts density to one dwelling unit per two acres. As required by the Growth Management Act, the adopted Ordinance has bee sent to the Florida Department of Community Affairs (DCA) for a final determination that these amendments to the Comprehensive Plan are in compliance with State law. This determination is made by DCA within approximately 45 days. If no one challenges DCA's determination within 21 days, the Alderman Residential Rural Community Overlay and its associated policies become effective.
