The Pinellas Transportation Plan

callout

THE PINELLAS TRANSPORTATION
SYSTEM INCLUDES...

191
Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA) buses serving 5,159 bus stops on 37 routes with over 14 million trips;

945 miles of major roads;

677 miles of sidewalks along major roads; and

201 miles of bicycle lanes and trails.

The Pinellas Transportation Plan presents a 25-year vision for the long-term mobility needs of people and goods. The Plan also seeks to improve the safety and efficiency of the transportation system while stimulating economic growth and enhancing the quality of life for the citizens of Pinellas County.

The MPO is working with the local governments in the county to identify transportation needs and projects identified by their respective communities.  This information will be incorporated in the Pinellas Transportation Plan.  The Plan also reflects the policies and objectives of the Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA) Transit Development Plan and the Pinellas Planning Council (PPC) Countywide Plan.

The Pinellas County MPO develops the Transportation Plan every five years to account for the latest growth patterns, socioeconomic trends and mobility needs for the future. The last version was adopted in 2009 with the horizon year of 2035. Data collection and technical work for the Pinellas Transportation Plan currently being developed with a horizon year of 2040 began in the fall of 2012 and will conclude with MPO policy board adoption in late 2014.
