Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative Committee
The Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative (JDAI) is a project of the Annie E. Casey Foundation. JDAI promotes changes to policies, practices, and programs to reduce reliance on unnecessary and inappropriate secure detention; improve public safety; reduce racial disparities and bias; save taxpayers’ dollars; and stimulate overall juvenile justice reforms.
In conjunction with the Annie C. Casey Foundation, Pinellas County and the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) joined Broward, Duval, Hillsborough, and Palm Beach as a Florida JDAI site in 2013. The Pinellas County Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative Executive Committee serves in an advisory capacity to the Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners and the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice.
