 Social Action Funding

The purpose of Social Action Funding (SAF) is to provide financial support for social service programs that positively impact the residents of Pinellas County and enhance the quality of life.  Legal reference is found in Pinellas County Board of County Commission Resolution 01.40. The Social Action Funding Committee will consider funding in the following areas:

  • Programs that require MATCH funds and match is unavailable from other sources;
  • Programs serving the ADULT POPULATION;
  • Programs that provide NUTRITION, SHELTER, and HEALTH SERVICES to the indigent population.

Social Action Funding HOMELESS INITIATIVE began as a County Commissioner initiative in 2000 and is restricted to those agencies providing emergency shelter to the homeless population.  Eligibility is determined by Pinellas County Health and Human Services SAF staff in partnership with the Pinellas County Coalition for the Homeless.  The same guidelines apply to the Homeless Initiative as are utilized for SAF.
