March 17, 2012 National Quilting Day Celebration
National Quilting Day Celebration
10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Six guilds from Pinellas County will be displaying quilts in the historic structures at Heritage Village. Members will demonstrate both hoop and frame quilting and will make “yo-yo’s” for young and old. They will also have visitors help make pillows for women recovering from breast cancer, and arm pillows for children receiving IVs or being treated in the cardiac unit at All Children’s Hospital. Children that help make an arm pillow for sick kids can also make one to take home!  flyer

The 33rd Heritage Village Fall Jubilee is the first place to search for gifts for the upcoming holiday season. Giant flea market and book sale a special feature. Handmade holiday crafts, paintings, jewelry, stained glass and wooden treasures are among the offerings as well as musical More Photo Linkentertainment, tours of historical homes, and demonstrations of traditional crafts.

November 17, 2012 Farm City Day
Farm City Day 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Pinellas County’s Heritage Village will host a Farm City Day celebration on Saturday, Nov. 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  The event is the kickoff for Farm-City Week, celebrated nationally each year during the week leading up to Thanksgiving. Participants will be able to enjoy agriculturally-inspired arts and crafts and play "olde-time" games. Farm-City Day is sponsored by the Pinellas County Farm Bureau. Holiday Traditions

image of Christmas decorations HolidayTraditions will enchant visitors at Pinellas County’s 21-acre living history museum from Nov. 24 through Dec. 31. Each of Heritage Village’s historic houses will be decorated true to its time period, locality and lifestyle, from an elaborately decorated Victorian home to a simply adorned 1852 log cabin. 
December 1, 2012 Trees & Traditions - A Centennial Celebration
Trees & Traditions - Dancers 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. - Suggested $2 donation
The Pinellas County Historical Society will sponsor an open house with refreshments, children’s activities and crafts, holiday music and carols, tours offering a look back at how Pinellas residents celebrated the holidays from the mid-1800s through the 1950s, and a special visit from Santa Claus!  Visitors can also find those one-of-a-kind holiday gifts at the Beach Cottage Gift Shop.

Pinellas by the Decades - A centennial Celebration Lecture Series On January 1, 2012 Pinellas County celebrates 100 years of independence from Hillsborough County. As part of the centennial activities that are expected to take place between the fall of 2011 and the end of 2012, the Pinellas County Historical Society plans an engaging series of multidisciplinary lectures titled “Pinellas by the Decades.”  - view completed lectures

Historical Writing Workshops
May 4

Award-winning author Angela T. Pisaturo will return to Heritage Village to host workshops on: May 4, July 6, and Sept. 7, 2012, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Each three hour workshop will be unique and cover aspects of writing historical novels, from research to setting the scene, and more. Each workshop will cost $15.00 with extensive handouts provided. (PCHS Members $13.00). Advance registration is recommended. Call (727) 582-2233 for further information or to register.
