Susan Latvala

Board of County Commissioners

Susan Latvala, the chair of the Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners, has served on the commission for 11 years. She was formerly a member of the Pinellas County School Board. Selected as the Volunteer of the Year by the Florida Alcohol and Drug Abuse Association in 2000, her community service includes service with the Pinellas County Health and Human Services Coordinating Council, Dunedin Art Center, PACE Center for Girls and Operation PAR, among others.


Ken Burke

Clerk of the Circuit Court

Ken Burke has been the Pinellas County Clerk of the Circuit Court since 2004. He has served as president of Catholic Charities Housing Corporation for the Diocese of St. Petersburg and on the Catholic Charities Board of Governors. In addition to other community involvement, he serves on the St. Petersburg College Board of Trustees and the Association of Community College Trustees Board of Directors.  


Bob LaSala

County Administrator

Bob LaSala has been the Pinellas County administrator since 2008. He had served as chief assistant county administrator in the 1980s and worked in local government in Florida, New York, New Jersey and most recently California. He has always been an active volunteer in the communities he served and is a graduate and active member of Leadership Florida. He is a staunch proponent of the Volunteers in Pinellas program.


Peggy Rowe

Human Resources

Peggy Rowe is the director of Pinellas County Human Resources, which serves the personnel needs of the employees of Pinellas County government, including the staff under the purview of the commission, the elected constitutional officers and the other appointing authorities. In addition to meeting the county employees’ needs, the department also runs the volunteer program, which is being re-invented to meet the changing needs of the community.


Laura Berkowitz

Volunteer Services Manager
Human Resources

Laura Berkowitz is heading up the Volunteers in Pinellas program and works tirelessly with her creative staff to build a team of volunteers that enjoys assisting the community, sharing their unique skills and backgrounds and inspiring the entire community with their enthusiasm. She is also the Human Resources communications manager, keeping county employees informed and reaching out to the community on behalf of the Pinellas County.


Len Ciecieznski

Communications Department

Len Ciecieznski is the moderator of this eTownHall event. He has been with the Pinellas County Communications Department since 1996, bringing more than 27 years of experience in advertising, broadcasting and public relations to the county. He coordinates the Pinellas Citizens University, serves as a public information officer and is a reporter and frequent host on PCC-TV.
