Pinellas County agencies have been working closely to effectively manage sex offender and predator populations. Using automated notification and placement tools designed and implemented by Pinellas County Government, agencies are able to quickly conduct analyses to efficiently adhere to statutory requirements. This tool performs distance analysis from offender residence to provide a list of locations for notification or that pose a potential violation. This application has been highly successful, and has received a great deal of recognition.
The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Sexual Predator / Offender Tracking Unit (S.P.O.T.) tracks sexual predators and offenders in Pinellas County. The unit also registers sex offenders as needed. This tool has been implemented at the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office (PCSO) to help keep additional information needed by law enforcement. The S.P.O.T. database, enables the PCSO to maintain detailed offender records and to manage to offender oversight. The system is used by the PCSO Sex Offender and Predator Tracking Unit (SPOT Unit) as a coordinated approach to sex offender management.
The S.P.O.T. office is open for registrations from 8:00am - 4:00pm Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and is located at 6160 Ulmerton Road Suite 104, Times Square Plaza, Clearwater, FL.
