HFA Programs that Help You Buy A Home

  The Housing Finance Authority of Pinellas County offers a number of programs for first time home-buyers. If you are ready to purchase your first home or have not owned a home as your primary residence for the past 3 years, you may qualify subject to purchase price, income limits and pre-approval by one of our participating lenders.
  
  
• HomeTown Heroes Plus!
  Expands homeownership opportunities for essential employees of military, public service, and health organizations who purchase homes in any of the eligible areas.
  
  
• Making Pinellas Home
  For persons who use HFA's Home Key Mortgage to purchase their home, this program provides 15 year, no interest, second or third mortgage loans of up to $15,000. Repayment is deferred for five years.
  
  
• Operation Kickstart
  Provides interest free loans to builders and developers to produce affordable new homes and upgrade existing housing in specially designated areas of Pinellas County.
  
  
• Target Area Loans
  Special program for persons who are not necessarily first time home buyers to purchase homes in certain 'target areas". The program offers higher purchase price limits and higher income limits.
  
  
• Free Homebuyer Education Seminars
  Learn how to avoid costly mistakes when purchasing your first home, how to save on energy costs, how much house you can afford and more. Attending a class is a requirement for some programs. Classes are offered in all three counties.
  
  
• Participating Lenders
  A participating lender can advise you on the program that best fits your needs. In addition to providing you with a pre-approval on your mortgage, the lender will also be able to tell you how much mortgage you can afford.
