Pinellas County provides mortgage revenue bond programs for first time home buyers through its Housing Finance Authority. Under these programs, participating lenders provide loans with interest rates generally 1 to 2% below conventional interest rates for the same type mortgage.
The First Time Home Buyers Program allows prospective home buyers to purchase a home (1-4 units) anywhere in the county. To be a first time home buyer, one must not have owned a home or had an ownership interest in a home considered their principal place of residence in the last three years. Income and purchase price limits apply. Call the Housing Finance Authority for details.
The Targeted Area Program offers additional incentives for persons who purchase homes in areas of Pinellas County that are targeted to encourage home ownership and neighborhood revitalization. There are higher income limits and maximum purchase prices in targeted areas. Borrowers do not need to be first time home buyers, but must occupy the property purchased.
Community Solutions for Special People. Fannie Mae and Pinellas County jointly celebrate the contributions of our teachers, police officers, and firefighters with special lending programs. Through the Fannie Mae Partnership, the HFA is able to offer very creative loan products that make it easier for many more working people to become home owners.
Qualified applicants for either of the bond programs must apply for loans through participating lenders. Loans are for single family properties (1-4 units), eligible condominiums and manufactured homes.
