Section 3401.7.2.4 The replacement of garage doors, exterior doors, skylights, operative and inoperative windows shall be designed and constructed in accordance with Chapter 16 of this code.
It shall be the responsibility of the contractor and/or owner to meet the above requirements. Below are the means by which the permitting and inspection requirements will be met.
Window and door replacements with a total cost of less than $500 will require a building permit and a notarized statement at time of permitting that the window(s) or door(s) will be installed in compliance with the manufacturers specification as well as the applicable sections of the Florida Building Code.
Window and door replacements with a total cost in excess of $500 will require a building permit as well as a final inspection. A notarized statement will be required at the time of final inspection stating that all the windows and/or doors have been installed in compliance with the manufacturers specification as well as the applicable sections of the Florida Building Code. Egress windows may not be altered to decrease the existing opening.
