Online Permitting
Pinellas County Building and Development Review Services Department is proud to announce that the long awaited Online Permitting and Inspection module will be available on or about March 31, 2008. You must be a registered user to to be able to apply for permits and schedule inspections. Registration is available to properly licensed contractors. more>>

October 31, 2007

Did you, as a contractor know that we have a procedure in place that can be used to relieve you of the responsibility of obtaining a final inspection, when the homeowner is uncooperative and refuses to allow the inspection to take place? The procedure is outlined in our Customer Corner section located on the left side of this page.

October 17, 2007

We have added a new inspection request number in the electrical section for the IVR system. This current list will replace your old list. Again, remember this change is only in the electrical request numbers. If you are not requesting electrical inspection, there will be no need to change your current list. House Bill 7057 became effective October 1. This bill addresses hurricane mitigation retrofits on all re-roofing. The Hurricane Mitigation Retrofit Manual Adobe Acrobat Reader file was developed by the Florida Building Commission. The Building Officials of Florida have developed suggested Hurricane Mitigation Guideline Adobe Acrobat Reader file for Building Departments The re-roofing affidavit form needed for all re-roof permits issued on or after October 1 is available on the left hand side of this page under Form/Applications.

September 4, 2007

Effective October 1, 2007 we will be changing our hours of operation. Our new hours will be from 8:00 am until 4:30 pm. This will allow staff time to finish up with customers and close out all financial issues.
Additionally, we will be closing at 2:30 pm once a month or as needed (specific day to be determined) to allow for staff meetings and/or training events.

Effective October 1, 2007, we will no longer be issuing Equal Change Outs or Change Out for A/C replacements. They will be issued as an individual mechanical permit at our basic permit rate. If there is electrical work involved it will be charged at time of permitting.

NOTICE The use of cell phones for scheduling inspection on the IVR system does not always function as it does with the use of a landline. If you experience problems, please try a landline. If you are, still experiencing problems call 464-3241.

Update From June 5

On July 9, 2007 all permits that have an IVR number associated to it must request all inspections through the automated telephone inspection system. If you have not previously registered for your user ID and PIN number you may do so the next time you visit our department, or you may request your ID and PIN number by e-mail at Login ID Request. You must supply the license holder's name, license number and company name. Homeowners applying for permits must also register. Simply indicate that you are a homeowner in your e-mail and include your permit number. If you have not obtained a permit you will be given your login ID and PIN number at time of permitting. We will be implementing two new policies/procedures. The first one will start on June 15, 2007. Under this new policy, all residential plans submitted for review must pay the plan review fee at time of submittal.

The second policy/procedure is what we have come to refer to as Customer Choice Permitting. This will be available on July 2, 2007. The following link will explain the complete procedure for Customer Choice Permitting Adobe Acrobat Reader file. This procedure has been designed to help you obtain your permit in a timelier manner.
