What is the calculator designed for ?
- As a “one-size fits most” self-service tool to get a rough idea of building permit fees.
What does the calculator work best for ?
- Medium to larger area construction type jobs where the basic 4 trades working in equal square footages of area. Our fee schedule already has many permit fees for smaller jobs & those with only one or a few trades.
This is only a small remodeling job and the amount seems really high.
- Double check the square footage of work area. Only include the square footage of where work is being done. Many remodels only involve a small part of the building.
The calculator is NOT a:

- Guarantee
- Proposal
- Quote

- Florida Surcharge

The Occupancy or Construction Type I need is not on the calculator.

What do the Occupancies mean ?
In Building Code terminology:
- Residential is “1 & 2 Family”
- Restaurant is “A-2, not a night club”
- Retail is “M-Mercantile”
- Office is “B-Business”
- Warehouse is “S-1 storage”
What do the construction types mean ?
In Building Code terminology:
- All block exterior walls is “III-B”
- Any frame exterior walls is “V-B”
- Metal building is “II-B”
