SCHEDULE OF PUBLIC HEARINGS FOR FY2008 BUDGET

THE PUBLIC HEARING PROCESS

The Public Hearing process consists of two public hearings for the consideration and adoption of the tentative millage rates and associated proposed budget for the upcoming fiscal year. During the public hearing process, the millage rates may be reduced, but may not be increased.  The public hearings will be held at:

The FIRST PUBLIC HEARING will be held on Tuesday, September 4, 2007 at 6:30 p.m. The Board of County Commissioners of Pinellas County consider the tentative millage rates and associated proposed budget for the upcoming fiscal year. The first public hearing is officially noticed by the Notice of Proposed Property Taxes (TRIM Notice) mailed to each individual or business who owns property within Pinellas County. The TRIM Notice indicates the proposed amount of property taxes associated with each tax levy under the Board of County Commissioners, as well as, various independent taxing authorities such as the School Board, the Cities, Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority, etc.. After receiving public comment and considering each item, the Board will adopt a series of resolutions for millage and budgets which are the basis for the second public hearing.

SECOND PUBLIC HEARING will be held on Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at 6:30 p.m. The Board of County Commissioners will consider and adopt the final millage rates and budget for the upcoming fiscal year. The second and final public hearing is officially noticed by the Notice of Proposed Tax Increase and Budget Summary appearing in the  St. Petersburg Times on September 14, 2007. After receiving public comment and considering each item, the Board will adopt a series of resolutions establishing the millages and budgets for FY2008.
