Responsible Stewards of the Publicís Resources
The Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners is dedicated to delivering first class services to the public and our customers. The Commission has defined a Strategic Plan built upon the priorities of the community and this plan guides the work that the county does every day.
Part of the Strategic Plan is to be responsible stewards of the public’s resources, which includes ensuring the financial stability of the county. The development of the budget is a year-long process that is guided by the revenue that is collected, the services and programs that have been identified as the greatest needs of the community, and the expenditures necessary to fund them.
The county’s citizens play an essential role in the process of responsible budgeting. Your input gives the Board direction and your priorities are reflected in the Strategic Plan. It is important to the Board that everyone be given a variety of opportunities to participate in the budget process. The Commission hosts meetings in the community, carries discussions on the website and on social media, holds public hearings and offers many opportunities for citizens to stay connected to their government. Check the Budget Timetable for updates on community meetings near you.
Citizens can also learn about the budget on OpenGov, a fun way to see the county’s revenues and expenses in an easy, interactive online tool. Pinellas County is one of the first counties in the state to publish budget data on the OpenGov platform.
