Workload Stats:

State certified animal control officers provide countywide enforcement and assistance to citizens with animal-related problems.

• Each year the shelter cares for approximately 24,000 dogs and cats.
• Animal Services receives over 900 animal related complaint calls per day.
• Calls are processed in priority order; public health and safety issues take top priority.
• A computerized pet licensing data base system tracks annual licenses for more than 183,000 dog and cats, and tracks approximately 375,000 pets countywide, helping to reunite lost pets with their owners. 
• Animal Services manages a registration and inspection program for pet dealers and kennels.

• Impounds reflect dogs, cats, and other, i. e., nuisance wildlife, exotics, etc.

• Euthanasia totals also reflect, nuisance wildlife, service to citizens with severely sick or unfriendly, and/or older pets, and dogs that are declared dangerous.
