- State Certified Animal Control Officers provide countywide
enforcement and assistance to citizens with
animal related problems.
- The shelter is open to the public six (6) days
per week, Monday through Saturday.
- Each year the shelter cares for approximately
20,000 dog and cats.
- Animal Services receives over 900 animal related
complaint calls per day.
- Calls
are processed in priority order; Public Health & Safety
is first.
- A computerized pet licensing data base system
tracks annual licenses for more than 177,000
dog and cats, and tracks approximately 375,000 pets Countywide helping to reunite
lost pets
with their owners.
- Animal Services manages a registration and inspection
program for pet dealers and kennels
