SPECIFIC GRANTS:
American Honda Foundation
Grants of $20,000 - $60,000 are offered for youth scientific or environmental education. Grant proposals are reviewed four times a year, as shown below. DEADLINE: February 1, May 1, August 1, November 1
Captain Planet Foundation
Grants of up to $2,500 are offered to teachers for hands-on environmental projects. Grant proposals are reviewed four times a year, as shown below. DEADLINE: March 31, June 30, September 30, December 31
GameStop Do Something
Grants of up to $500 are offered to persons 25 years old or under for sustainable community action projects. Grants will be reviewed on a rolling basis and awarded weekly. DEADLINE: year-round
National Education Foundation (NEA)
Student achievement grants of $5,000 are offered to public school teachers for engaging students in critical thinking and problem solving (any subject area). Grant proposals are reviewed three times a year, as shown below. DEADLINE: February 1, June 1, October 15
National Geographic Society Young Explorer
Grants of up to $5,000 are offered to individuals (including teachers) who are 18-25 years old for research, exploration, and conservation-related projects. DEADLINE: applications accepted year-round
Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD)
Grants of up to $5,000 per school are offered for the Splash! grant program. Funding is available to public, private or homeschool teachers for reimbursement of classroom projects on water-related topics such as water conservation or watersheds. DEADLINE: September 2, 2011
Tampa Bay Estuary Program
Grants of up to $5,000 are offered to teachers (or community groups) for education or restoration programs related to watershed conservation. DEADLINE: October 1
Toshiba America Foundation
Grants of $5,000 or more are offered to teachers of grades 7-12 for inquiry-based science projects designed by individual teachers or small teams of teachers. Grants of up to $1,000 are offered for teachers of K-6. DEADLINE: year-round for grades 7-12, October 1 for grades K-6
