Pinellas County, Fla.— Pinellas County Utilities is the proud recipient of the 2008 Distribution System Award from the Florida Section of the American Water Works Association (FSAWWA). This is awarded to utilities that meet specific operational criteria with a high level of integrity.

In addition, FSAWWA honored the Oakhurst Water Tank in Seminole with the Water Landmark Award. Aside from the water tower’s visually appealing art, the local landmark is now surrounded by beautiful grounds with Florida-friendly landscaping features.

Pinellas County Utilities also received the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Water Fluoridation Quality Award. To earn this award, water systems must adjust the fluoride concentration in drinking water, maintaining the monthly average fluoride level in the optimal range for 12 consecutive months, as documented in the Water Fluoridation Reporting System.

Utilities Director Tom Crandall observed that, “winning industry recognition is simply a by-product of taking pride in the products we provide every day.”
