Originally
created as part of the Pinellas County
Historical Museum
in 1961, the Archives and Library at Heritage
Village has evolved into Pinellas County's
principal resource center for the collection,
conservation, and study of the history of
Pinellas County.
The
library features a collection of over 3,500
volumes dealing with topics
ranging from Pinellas County and Florida
history to genealogy and historic conservation
and preservation as well as a collection
of over 8,500 photographs on Pinellas County.
In
order to better assist our patrons,
we ask
that you please observe the following rules:
1. Use pencil only. Pens are not permitted as they can result in damage to the historical materials.
2. All material must be handled with extreme care to ensure its preservation. The use of gloves may be required to handle materials.
3. Most books (with the exception of rare and reference materials) may be checked out by Pinellas County residents upon showing proper ID (driver's license or county library card). Circulating materials may be checked out for a period of 2 weeks.
4. Photocopies are permitted of most materials, provided such duplication will not harm the materials. It is the sole responsibility of the researcher to follow all provisions of U.S. copyright law.
5. Photographic prints may be requested from photos in our collection. Please ask staff for more information. Sorry, but original photos or negatives cannot be loaned out.
6. Eating or drinking in the Library is not permitted.
