Wild Thing, I Think I Love You!

You’ll love the wild things which have been “captured” on canvas by the local artists from the Augustine Ludovico Studio. Life and Death in Southeastern Florida during the Late Archaic

What can we learn from pre-historic burials sites discovered at Pine Island Ridge in Broward County? They inform us about quality of life, social organization, and perceptions of death from the Late Archaic to Glades Period. These mortuary patterns are compared to other contemporaneous sites in southern Florida, and to later burial practices, including the analysis of animal burials at the Miami Circle site. Just add your kitchen scraps to your yard clippings and compost happens! Adding compost to Florida’s sandy soil provides much-needed organic material and nutrients while improving its water-holding capacity. Recycling your yard waste by turning it into compost rather than sending it to the landfill is a sustainable practice!
