Staged among six galleries, the Exhibit Gallery is an art-inspired, hands-on educational showcase of the area’s history, ecology and people. Palm Boot Mask Workshop
Weedon Island Preserve, 1800 Weedon Drive N.E., St. Petersburg
Join in this workshop, using the base of the palm frond (known as the palm boot), as a foundation to create unique wall hangings. In almost every culture, masks have been created and worn for protection, as disguises, or as a means of transforming oneself spiritually. Due to the distinctive shape of each palm boot, each takes on its own character which will be revealed to its owner. No art experience is necessary.
