OUTREACH AND EDUCATION
The Water
Resources Management Section is dedicated
to public outreach and education. Our
outreach activities range from answering
citizens’ questions and concern about
their aquatic environment to formal presentations.
- Our complaint response system allows us to visit sites of concern
and educate the public on natural processes and human activities
that impact lakes, streams, and the ocean
- We have
produced our own brochures on many topics, such as manatees, stormwater,
lakes and ponds or septic systems, and distribute these as often as
possible to citizens, civic groups or organizations.
- We
offer presentations to schools and neighborhood
associations on a wide range of topics
(for more information, see the speaker’s
bureau list). Staff also present scientific
papers and posters at conferences across
the nation.
- We
participate in many events such as the
Coastal Clean-up, MarineQuest, and Family
EarthFest. We also organize stormdrain-marking
events year round in conjunction with
other agencies.
- Our
educational stormwater videos continue
to be played on PCC-TV.
