MISSION
The
Air Quality Division (AQD) is dedicated to protect
and preserve the air quality within Pinellas County.
The Division will accomplish its mission by providing
and maintaining for the citizens and visitors of
Pinellas County, standards and programs that will
ensure proper management and control of air pollution
to enhance public health and welfare.

The
Air Quality Division will attain and
maintain the National Ambient Air Quality
Standards (NAAQS) for ozone and all air
pollutants through the implementation
of air pollution control strategies consistent
with authorization of the Clean
Air Act Amendments of 1990 .
These strategies include:
-
Maintaining
programs to protect the public from high risk
sources of toxic and hazardous air pollutants;

Continued
development of programs that serve and educate
the public concerning air pollution issues; and
-
Maintaining
programs that will prevent the degradation of
air quality where standards are at risk of being
exceeded.
