| A number of private, public and nonprofit agencies provide housing for low and moderate income households and special groups through various programs which subsidize rental payments for families who cannot afford to pay full market rates.
Rental payments are determined by family income. The primary source of financing for subsidized rental housing is the federal government.

There are almost 300 Assisted Living Facilities, serving over 9,000 people, in Pinellas County . These facilities are licensed, approved or certified by the State of Florida Agency for Health Care Administration to provide retirement living and one or more personal care services for elderly as well as others needing personal care.
