Citizen Participation

Citizen participationPlans are developed with resident input and leadership

  • Developing a plan takes a year or more

  • Often it takes time to build trust

  • Communication with residents is essential

  • Staff Intensive

itemA primary means of involving local residents in the planning and development process is through local advisory committees and nonprofit organizations. These include the Greater Ridgecrest Board of Directors, the Dansville Neighborhood Development Corporation, local organizations in High Point, and the largo Neighborhood Advisory Committee. Additionally, public hearings are held, after adequate nofifications to obtain citizen views and to respond to proposals and questions.

Notices describing the contents and purpose of the Consortium's Action Plan for Community Planning and Development and giving viewing locations of the full document are published to give citizens reasonable opportunity to examine the Action Plan's contents and submit comments.
